Position Overview:
The Technical Lead, titled - VP of Development will play a pivotal role in establishing and leading a team of Developers, with an initial target of 4-6 team members by the end of the year. This role is ideal for a Lead Developer from a credit union, smaller regional bank, or an alternative financial institution (investment firm or insurance) looking to step into a leadership role. The candidate will initially be hands-on with development, gradually transitioning to a full management role as the team scales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Growth:
- Build and lead an initial team of 4-6 Developers, expanding as business needs grow
- Provide strategic direction, mentoring, and guidance to the development team
- Transition from hands-on development to full management responsibilities as the team scales
- Development and Execution:
- Contribute to the hands-on development in the initial stages of team building
- Oversee and drive software development projects, ensuring high standards of quality and performance
- Talent Acquisition and Management:
- Lead the hiring process for Developers, ensuring alignment with organizational needs
- Conduct employee reviews, provide training, and ensure continuous team development
- Establish a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance
- Strategic Vision and Leadership:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align development goals with business objectives
- Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Lead Developer or Senior Developer in a credit union, smaller regional bank, or alternative financial institution (investment firm or insurance)
- Strong understanding of banking and financial regulations
- Hands-on experience in software development with leadership capabilities
- Experience in hiring, team building, and managing direct reports
- Proven track record in employee reviews, training, and mentoring team members
