COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING INTERN
Paid Internship 30-32 hours a week for 12 weeks in May 2025
$20/hr.

The Communications & Marketing Intern will assist with the development and implementation of marketing, public information and community outreach efforts by the City of North Port’s Communications Division.
This paid internship offers students an opportunity to participate in real-life public communication campaigns and initiatives while developing technical skills, utilizing creativity and learning about local government and public relations practices. The position reports to the Deputy Communications Director.
Essential Job Functions
• Assist with the creation and development of photos, videos, digital/print designs, podcasts, social media/website content, newsletters and news releases that promote or highlight City events, programs and initiatives.
• Help develop strategic communications plan and coordinate community outreach programs and events.
• Assist with photography archiving, website/social media analytics reports and other Communications projects.
• Attend City events and other community outreach opportunities.
• Work collaboratively as a member of the Communications team; participate in team meetings and training sessions.
• Other communications-related activities as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office software or similar.
• Ability to take direction and work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Knowledge and interest in public service.
• Reliability and willingness to learn.
• Experience with photo and graphic editing applications such as Canva, Photoshop or similar preferred.
Education/Experience
• Enrollment in an accredited college or university working toward a degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
• OR current or recently graduated high school student with experience/interest in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
