Basic Function : Under the Guidance of BHCS Clinical Outpatient Manager, BHCS Director of Operations, BHCS Clinical Director, and BHCS VP of Operations provides clinical precepting to one or more direct service staff providing behavioral health services within both a community and clinic setting to children, adolescents, families or adults. The Clinical Outpatient Team Leader also provides clinical assessment, crisis intervention services, treatment planning, and direct clinical intervention to children and their families experiencing acute and chronic emotional / behavioral disorders within both a community and clinic setting. Clinical services are provided in compliance with agency productivity standards. The Clinical Outpatient Team Lead will provide additional supportive clinical supervision, guidance, and training to no more than 10 clinical treatment team members.

Reporting Relationship : Reports to : BHCS Clinical Outpatient Manager and BHCS Clinical Director; BHCS VP of Operations

Trains and Supports (Position Title) : Psychotherapist; Qualified Mental Health Professionals, Mental Health Professionals, and Case Managers

Principal Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Supports and provides initial training of new Outpatient staff including HIPPA, forms, service delivery standards.
  • Assists with ongoing training of Outpatient staff including documenting services, clinical consultation, and client safety.
  • Consults on appropriate clinical interventions.
  • Using clinical experience to develop new skills in staff through different methods including the use of shadowing and case consultation.
  • Integrating new Outpatient hires into the dynamics of Community Mental Health, including cultural understanding and humility of the person served.
  • Supports all services in a manner to insure the building of client resiliency and consumer input.
  • Assures that all treatment services are compliant with local, state and federal medical regulations.
  • Provides and documents direct service hours in compliance with agency standards.
  • Assists psychotherapists in monitoring psychiatrically hospitalized children, and provides discharge, linkage, and aftercare recommendations.
  • Implements clinical services identified in the treatment plan at a level of professional competence commensurate with established protocols.
  • Performs comprehensive mental health assessments for children and adolescents referred for crisis or non-crisis mental health services. This includes the ability to develop and successfully provide a diagnostic assessment consistent with all Axis of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-V-TR), International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), or their successors.
  • Participates in 5 hours of training and / or other type of continuing education per quarter.
  • Returns phone calls, faxes, electronic emails, intranet pages and coordinate with other community services. Send and respond to releases of confidential information. Appropriately expresses information.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive clinical treatment plan for all youth referred consistent with agency procedure, licensing standards, and standards of professional practice.
  • Demonstrates expertise in the implementation of diagnostic formulations and criteria using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V-TR) and applicable pathways.
  • Maintains and adheres to current rules and regulations pertaining to services delivered by the Illinois Department of Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities as well as Department of Children & Family Services, including the Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (ANCRA).

Requirements :

  • This position calls for a minimum of a master's degree in counseling and guidance, rehabilitation, counseling, social work, vocational counseling, psychology, pastoral counseling, family therapy, or a related field.
  • This position requires the use of a personal auto, valid driver's license and motor vehicle report acceptable to the agency's broker and verification of insurance.
  • This position also calls for an individual who has been cleared by the State of Illinois based upon a prior history of child abuse / neglect. In addition, the individual must clear a personal background review, fingerprinting, and criminal checks.
