ACHS is looking for PRN Paramedics to join our EMS Team. Options for shifts available include 12 hours or 24 hours, up to 48 hours. This is a great opportunity to expand your healthcare experience working hand-in-hand with our experienced EMS and nursing staff.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain proper knowledge and skills to operate within the Scope of Practice per level of certification utilized for optimum patient care.
- Safely able to operate an ambulance in accordance with Iowa law. Demonstrate geographic knowledge of the service area and street locations.
- Work with other emergency services agencies as a team on the patient’s behalf.
- Completion of all patient care reports in a timely fashion on department approved forms or software.
- Stock and maintain vehicles and quarters at all times.
- Act in a professional manner at all times and be able to handle emotional situations with good judgment.
- Act in accordance with ACHS policies and procedures and adhere to behavior standards.
- Must be positive, diligent and work cooperatively with colleagues and management.
- Must be punctual and perform all aspects of job responsibilities with honesty and integrity.
- Responsible for the correct Advanced Life Support (ALS) treatment or Basic Life Support (BLS) treatment, and safe efficient transportation of ill or injured persons to appropriate destinations by ambulance. Highest trained crew member is ultimately
responsible for patient care decisions and outcomes. - Must be able to perform minor vehicle maintenance (fuel, fluids, air, wash vehicles etc.) on all vehicles as required.
- Daily, or at the beginning of each shift, perform a complete inventory of each ambulance, including cleaning of the interior and washing the exterior.
- Patient education; utilizing brochures and handout materials when appropriate.
- May assist outside of ER and Ambulance care.
- Follows safety and risk policies.
- Follows Quality Assurance and Improvement Plan and activities.
