Job Description: Entry-Level Household Mover (Number 2 Role)
Full Time, Seasonal Position 40 hours/week
- Typically Monday through Friday, 7:30AM - 5:00PM, but will occasionally involve earlier start times and later completion times depending on the job size, scope, and location.
- Position could involve interstate work and travel for long distance moves on a voluntary basis.
- $17/hour to start, with up to $1/hour increase upon successful completion of Spine Moving’s orientation/training program. (Orientation/Training for the N2 role typically takes 3-4 weeks.)
Performance Expectations:
- Make safety the top priority on the job site, adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Work for our customers with professional urgency at all times, ensuring efficient and timely service, except during designated breaks.
- Offer friendly and reassuring “above and beyond” service to our customers, providing a positive and helpful experience throughout the challenging moving process.
Essential Job Functions:
- Under the supervision of the crew leader, move furniture of all shapes and sizes weighing up to 300 pounds, utilizing proper lifting techniques and equipment.
- Maintain professional and clear communication by phone with local customers, providing updates regarding the crew's estimated arrival time.
- Demonstrate a sense of professional urgency, understanding that we are compensated on an hourly basis and perform in full view of our paying customers.
- Minimize unnecessary trips between the house and the truck during loading and unloading, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
- Disassemble furniture such as cribs and beds carefully and skillfully, paying special attention to bagging and securing all fasteners and hardware.
- Assist in the packing of customer belongings, including dishes, 2-D art, and other fragile items, into boxes, ensuring items are properly protected and that all boxes are properly labeled according to Spine Moving policy.
- Properly and consistently deploy home protection materials and equipment in all areas of the home most vulnerable to damage, including front door, wood floors, and carpeted stairs and rooms.
- Operate the time-keeping system accurately to track working hours, ensuring accurate billing for the customer and proper compensation for the crew.
- Maintain a positive, can-do attitude, even in the face of moving-related setbacks such as inclement weather.
- Assist in loading and unloading the truck, organizing items strategically to maximize space and prevent damage during transit.
- Safely operate moving equipment, such as dollies and hand trucks, while moving items to and from the truck.
- Handle fragile and valuable items with utmost care, using appropriate padding and packaging materials to prevent any damage.
- Follow all company policies and procedures regarding proper handling, loading, and securing of items in the truck.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck’s equipment and supplies, ensuring a prepared, professional, and presentable appearance at all times.
Additional Essential Job Functions:
- Assemble and arrange furniture and other items at the customer's new location, ensuring they are placed in the desired positions.
- Safely navigate stairs, hallways, and other obstacles while carrying heavy objects to ensure the protection of both the items and the surroundings.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing any concerns or issues that may arise during the moving process.
Skills/Experience Needed:
- Physical strength and stamina to perform lifting, carrying, and moving tasks throughout the workday.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with customers and team members.
- Attention to detail to ensure the proper handling and placement of items during the moving process.

- Basic knowledge of furniture assembly and disassembly techniques.
- Familiarity with moving equipment and tools, such as dollies, straps, and padding materials.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record (if required to operate moving vehicles).
