Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Dental Assistant Trainee to join our team. You will learn from the best in this role as we are looking for someone eager to improve their skills and become a well-rounded dental assistant in both General Dentistry as well as Oral Surgery.
The ideal candidate will provide chairside support to the dentist during patient procedures, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience for patients. In addition to assisting in clinical duties, the dental assistant will also manage administrative tasks, sterilize instruments, and help maintain a clean, organized office environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and surgeries by handing instruments, preparing materials, and keeping the patient comfortable.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments, equipment, and treatment areas.
- Take and develop dental X-rays in accordance with office and regulatory standards.
- Record patient medical history, update charts, and document treatment details.
- Educate patients on proper oral care techniques, including brushing, flossing, and postoperative instructions.
- Maintain and manage the dental supplies inventory, ordering new materials as necessary.
Administrative Support:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office calendar.
- Answer phone calls, confirm appointments, and handle inquiries from patients.
- Process patient billing and insurance claims, ensuring accurate documentation for reimbursement.
- Maintain patient records and update information as needed.
Health & Safety:
- Ensure the dental office complies with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area at all times.
- Assist in maintaining the sterilization room and ensuring all equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
Team Collaboration:
- Work alongside other dental team members (dentists, hygienists, and office staff) to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient care.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to anxious patients.
- Continuously update knowledge on dental procedures, products, and technology to provide the highest level of care.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.55 - $22.55 per hour
Expected hours: 28 – 38 per week
