Dane County, Wisconsin
Hometown News, Adams Publishing Group of Southern Wisconsin’s division of
weekly newspapers, is seeking a municipal government reporter to cover a
number of rapidly growing Dane County communities. This reporter will provide
coverage for its print edition, digital platforms and social media channels.
The reporter’s primary focus will be municipal government, including issues such
as budgets, housing, transportation, economic growth and constraints, public
policy, along with parks and recreation in these booming Madison suburbs.
Some knowledge of municipal government is preferred; an interest in local
government is essential.
This position reports to the editor of the Hometown News papers.
Essential skills and experience
Strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with digital platforms and social media strategy are important.
Community engagement experience – in person and on social networks, being a
professional ambassador for the news organization in the community.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, along with some newspaper experience.
Photography skills a plus.
