Position Overview :
The Site Utility Manager will oversee utility projects and maintenance contracts, ensuring the successful operation of the performance of the work. This role will also seek new work in Owensboro and surrounding counties to drive the company's growth by increasing market share while ensuring efficient service delivery. The Site Utility Manager will have extensive experience in underground utility construction and repairs, taking a hands-on role in both managing operations and directly overseeing fieldwork. Additionally, this role includes responsibility for hiring, managing, and terminating employees, as well as tracking costs, time, and invoicing to maintain profitability and project efficiency.
Key Responsibilities :
- Operations & Contract Management :
Oversee the daily operations of utility projects and maintenance contracts, ensuring service quality, compliance with contractual requirements, and client satisfaction.
Manage the performance and productivity of employees and subcontractors to meet contractual goals and expectations.Ensure adherence to project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations, overseeing schedules and cost control.Ensure equipment is properly maintained, including regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and necessary repairs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and taken care of throughout its use on construction projects. This includes routine checks and maintenance on all equipment, keeping detailed records, and addressing any mechanical issues early to avoid project delays. Ensure equipment is cleaned, stored, and secured when not in use, working with the Operations Manager to order parts and arrange for repairs as needed.Expansion & Market Development :Identify and pursue new business opportunities in Owensboro and surrounding areas to grow market share.
Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, clients, and industry leaders to expand the companys presence and reputation.Lead efforts to secure new projects through assistance in bidding, proposal preparation, and contract negotiations.Underground Utility Construction & Repairs :Provide hands-on leadership in the construction and repair of underground utilities, ensuring work is completed safely and within scope.
Manage teams directly in the field, providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities on road projects, including managing resources and troubleshooting issues as they arise.Employee Management :Hire, train, supervise, and, when necessary, terminate employees to build a skilled and effective team.
Monitor team performance and provide coaching and development to ensure the highest standards of work quality, safety, and efficiency.Foster a work environment that promotes safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.Budget & Cost Management :Manage project budgets, ensuring that all work remains within financial objectives.
Monitor project costs, including tracking time, labor, materials, and equipment usage.Manage invoicing and financial reporting, ensuring accurate billing and timely collections to maintain cash flow and profitability.Client & Stakeholder Relations :Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring their needs are met and maintaining strong relationships.
Address client concerns and resolve issues promptly to ensure ongoing satisfaction and repeat business.Compliance & Safety Management :Ensure that all work adheres to safety regulations and best practices.
Implement safety protocols, monitor worksite safety, and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance.Enforce environmental, regulatory, and quality standards across all projects.Reporting & Documentation :Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager on project progress, financial performance, team performance, and business development activities.
Maintain proper documentation for all projects, including contracts, permits, safety reports, and compliance records.Risk Management :Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring that projects remain on track and disruptions are minimized.
Address challenges proactively to maintain the quality and safety of projects.Key Results Areas (KRAs) :

Qualifications :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing maintenance contracts, heavy civil construction, or similar operations.Proven expertise in underground utility construction, repair, and maintenance.Experience managing teams, including hiring, training, performance management, and terminations.Strong understanding of cost management, time tracking, and invoicing processes for construction projects.Preferred Qualifications :
Familiarity with utility installation and repair standards and practices or other public utility operations.Knowledge of local regulations and industry standards in Kentucky.Previous experience with business development and market expansion in the construction industry.Skills & Competencies :
