Position Overview:
The Underground Utility Foreman is a working foreman position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a small crew focused on installing new underground utilities and performing repairs under maintenance contracts. This role requires hands-on involvement, including operating equipment and performing manual labor, such as fitting pipe. The Foreman ensures all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, reporting directly to the Underground Utility Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crew Supervision:
- Lead and manage the daily activities of the crew, ensuring adherence to project schedules and plans.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to maintain workflow and prevent delays.
- Quality Assurance & Safety:
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular site inspections.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with regulations.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Equipment Operation & Manual Labor:
- Operate construction equipment as needed to support project goals.
- Perform manual labor tasks, including fitting pipe and other necessary duties.
- Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Motivate and guide the crew, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Facilitate communication between the crew, the Underground Utility Manager, and other stakeholders.
- Resource Management:
- Manage on-site resources efficiently, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of necessary equipment.
- Problem Solving & Risk Management:
- Identify potential issues promptly and develop effective solutions.
- Address project-related challenges to minimize disruptions.
