What Success Looks Like In This Job
To supervise and lead a team of skilled maintenance staff in the operation, repair, and maintenance of designated County Buildings and to schedule and supervise contractors in minor construction, remodeling, and repair projects.
Examples of Duties for Success
- Oversee and inspect the work of maintenance staff and / or contractors involved in the operation, maintenance, repair, or remodeling of designated County facilities. This includes but is not limited to HVAC controls, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and grounds maintenance.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, and review work orders entered by maintenance staff and our customers. Supervise and review the work performed by the maintenance staff and contractors.
- Supervise and participate in plumbing operation, maintenance, repair and replacement projects, including but not limited to : toilets, sinks, valves, and plumbing lines.
- Supervise and participate in HVAC equipment operation, maintenance, repair and replacement projects, including but not limited to : chillers, boilers, cooling towers, condensers, DDC controls, and water treatment.
- Supervise and participate in electrical operation, maintenance, repair and replacement projects, including but not limited to : switches, relays, meters, and fuses.
- Supervise and participate in carpentry maintenance repairs and or remodeling projects. Provide sketches and / or blueprints for maintenance staff or contractors to complete repairs or remodel work.
- Maintain key cutting logs and records of building keys issued and returned.
- Order, inventory, and stock shop supplies.
- Schedule and participate in the preventative maintenance program on all equipment and maintain records for preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Train staff on the use of chemicals, equipment, supplies and materials, including safety policies and procedures.
- Continuously monitor staff to provide feedback and correct deficiencies
- Participate in the selection of new maintenance staff and provide or coordinate new maintenance staff training.
- Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications.
- Prepare various reports on operations and activities.
- Participate in budget preparation and administration; prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations; submit justifications; monitor and control expenditures.
- Estimate time and material costs to complete assigned jobs.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
