Adams County is seeking a highly skilled candidate for our Fleet Technician II position within our Facilities & Fleet Operations Department. The candidate will perform highly skilled tasks involved in making necessary mechanical repairs to a variety of Fleet vehicles and equipment. The Facilities & Fleet Operations department supports Adams County's vision as the most innovative inclusive county in America for all families & businesses.
Examples of Duties for Success
- Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical problems on county vehicles and equipment.
- Overhaul, maintain and repair gasoline and diesel engines.
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical system components, ignition systems, computer controls, electronic controls, microprocessors, alternators, high voltage power generators, starters, and batteries.
- Diagnose, maintain, repair, and recondition hydraulic systems and high-pressure water systems, including pumps, valves, rams, hoses, and motors.
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair high-pressure air systems, including rebuilding of pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses.
- Diagnose, maintain and repair chassis, steering assemblies and other complex mechanical components.
- Diagnose, maintain and repair front and rear drive axles, transmissions, drive train components, belts, gears, chain drives, and propeller shafts.
- Diagnose, maintain and repair air conditioning systems, repair vacuum and electronic controls for air delivery and system operation.
- Diagnose, maintain and repair fuel injection systems in diesel and gasoline applications.
- Repair and replace components such as generators, distributors, relays, lights, switches, and high voltage light systems.
- Repair, adjust, and replace brake components including wheel cylinders, master cylinders, shoes, pads, machine drums and rotors, hydraulic and air brake components including slack adjusters, shoes, drums modulators and supply systems.
- Repair and replace tires; check and adjust vehicle alignment.
- Repair and maintain sanders, plows, and related snow removal equipment and systems.
- Install public safety equipment on county vehicles including light bars, insignias and numbers, radios, and antennas.
- Weld, fabricate, and assemble parts and equipment for county vehicles and equipment; perform minor body and chassis repair. Weld, braze, solder, and cut by torch, electric arc, mig welder, and plasma cutter; manufacture components to improve the operation of equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
- Perform daily and annual vehicle safety inspection.
- Perform vehicle emission inspections; perform necessary repairs.
- Assist in the training of county staff in the operation of vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain and repair shop equipment including hoists, grinders, welders, compressors, steam cleaners, and presses.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and tools; ensure compliance with established and county approved safety procedures.
- Maintain work, time, and material records, using the automated shop management system.
- Assist other technicians in the performance of mechanical repairs as required.
- Must be able to respond to service calls and to work during snowstorms as scheduled.
- Must have your own tools.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
