Summary of Position
Under the general supervision of the Public Safety System Assistant Manager and Public Safety System Manager, this position performs specialized technical work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of radio communication. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and programming communication and electronic equipment in agency vehicles, the communications center, and tower sites, as necessary. This role requires technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. Requires scheduled ‘On Call’ time.
Salary Range: $36.06-$43.27/hr
The Public Safety Radio System Technician is responsible for duties including but not limited to:
- Maintain Adcom911 agencies radio programming
- Maintain and upgrade radio sites, console sites, ISSI, Zone Core servers, etc.
- May represent Adcom911 on various committees and boards such as FRCC, the Region 7 700/800 Regional Planning Committee, the Public Safety Communications Subcommittee (PSCS), and the North Central Region Communications Committee (NCR), Police Task Force, Fire Task Force
- Must work well in a collaborative environment
- Develop action plans across departments for system enhancement
- Identify needs of member agencies, and develop solutions for improved system performance
- Develop long range plans for system continuity
- Other duties as assigned
You will need to have or be able to obtain:
- A valid government issued ID or passport
- CJIS Certification
Minimum Requirements:
- 2 years’ experience of operating and maintaining a two-way radio system required; 5 years’ experience of operating and maintaining a two-way radio systems is preferred.
- Must have experience in the following Motorola network management applications or the ability to obtain certification within 2 years of employment
- Familiarity with Motorola P25 radio systems and trunking sites
- Radio programming using Motorola CPS or equivalent
- General RF knowledge and electrical knowledge
- Good troubleshooting ability
