Description
***$1,000 sign-on bonus rewarded after 6 months if requirements are met***
Completes Basic Training and Intake Worker training through Pennsylvania Department of Aging as soon as available after hiring date.
Receives and evaluates intake calls and determines need for Protective Services and gives reports of needs to supervisor or Executive Director for distribution.
Responds to reports of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or abandonment by initiating investigations according to regulatory requirements.
Receives Report of Need for under age 60 consumers and transfers to appropriate investigation contractor.
Performs investigations and removes the risk to older adult through informed consent or emergency intervention which may involve court testimony, working with agency attorney to access records and perform emergency involuntary interventions.
Completes reassessment prior to closing a case in accordance with Protective Services regulatory requirements. Provides closed cases to supervisor for review immediately upon completion.
Utilizes applicable software and databases to complete reports, required forms, case notes and documentation in a timely manner, ensuring that all documentation is thorough, accurate and properly recorded.
Participate in the Protective Services rotating on-call system and will be required to be on-call when back-up workers are unavailable.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of individual and group behavior and methods of working effectively with families.
Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations, common health problems and prescription drugs.
Knowledge of Older Americans Act and the Older Adult Protective Service Act.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers and their families, medical personnel, hospital, nursing home and community organizations.
Ability to plan and organize work, prepare adequate records and reports, set priorities and maintains a caseload in an effective manner.
Ability to express ideas orally and in written form and to interpret laws and regulations.
Ability to use computer to track and enter consumer data.
Accessibility to a car and willingness to travel.
Education and Training
A master’s degree in human services or Sociology or Psychology and one year of experience performing psycho-social assessment.

A bachelor’s degree in human service or Sociology or Psychology and two years of experience performing psycho-social assessments.
