Job Summary: Cares for patients in hospital or swing bed (rehabilitation), under direction of nursing and medical staff, by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required. At least 6 months experience working in a health care facility preferred. State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA). BLS required. Required to take cardiac monitor classes within 1 year of hire, or pass the ECG proficiency test with 80% or higher score and successfully identify lethal arrhythmias.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Answers signal lights, bells or intercom system to determine patient needs
- Bathes, dresses and undresses patient
- Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help
- Transports patients or assists patient to walk
- Turns and repositions bedfast patients alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores
- Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors and answers telephone
- Obtains and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, food and fluid intake and output, and initial and daily weights, as directed
- Observes patient for sign/symptoms of pain
- Uses general care measures such as positioning for comfort, skin care/back rub, assists with splinting area of discomfort, reassures patient, assists with relaxation techniques
- Reports unrelieved/change in pain to RN
- Documents verbal & non-verbal response to intervention using rating scale system
- Is able to answer patient questions regarding restraints, patient rights, orientation of patient rooms, use of equipment and obtains feedback from the patient
- Able to pass EKG proficiency test by 80% or higher
- Can enter, review, retrieve and discharge patients from the central station
- Fills out white board at the beginning of each shift
- Completes bedside shift to shift reporting
- Shows ability to work with the HMS system
- Compiles patient charts and flags charts for missing information
- Knowledge of the proper procedure in using PPE
- Labels specimens appropriately and delivers them to the lab in a timely manner
- Enters arrival information into EMR for newly admitted patients when they arrive to the unit
