- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience working with children desired.
- Operating knowledge of wheel chair lifts desired.
- English language skills required. Bilingual desirable.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel in a positive and cooperative manner.
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret policies and procedures, laws, rules and instructions.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to pass various pre-employment background screenings.

- American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Certificate required within three months of hire.

- Maintain student safety to and from school/destination on school buses by:
- Establishing a safe and orderly environment, e.g., Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.
- Adhering to District and Transportation Department guidelines and procedures.
- Complying with proper health and safety processes and procedures, e.g., Universal Precautions, Crisis Prevention Intervention.
- Assisting students on/off the bus, e.g., medical equipment, backpacks, wheelchair lifts, Star seats.
- Assisting with safety drills for students.
- Maintain communications by:
- Conferencing with supervisor, District staff, parents and students and/or law enforcement officers, e.g., assigned routes, schedules, special needs accommodations, accident reports, field trips, student safety, disciplinary actions.
- Being accessible via District communication devices.
- Responding to requests submitted electronically.
- Conveying route to substitute driver when picking up and dropping off students.
- Maintain accurate records by:

- Assist Bus Driver to maintain District assets by:
- Ensuring proper functionality of assigned vehicle.
- Cleaning the bus interior daily and exterior as needed.
- Complying with federal, state, local and District safety guidelines and regulations, e.g., pre-trip/post-trip.

- Provide services to the District by:
- Assisting bus drivers in transporting students when a bus is out of commission.
