Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. Must complete the SEPA training within 90 calendar days of employment.
- Has experience or desire working with students who have emotional disabilities.
- Must have or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute certification or other necessary training to fulfill the position.
- Has excellent oral, written communication, and student rapport-building skills.
- Demonstrates competency in computer and keyboarding skills.
- Has ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies and building and department procedures.
- Has ability to communicate, interact, work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
- Has ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate
- Has operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail.
- Must pass various pre-employment background screenings.
- Has experience working with diverse cultures, backgrounds abilities desirable.
- To build trusting, positive working relationships with students.
- To support social-emotional needs of children based on teacher instructions and students' IEPs.
- To assist Special Education Teacher by implementing small-group reading, writing, and/or math lessons inside and outside the regular classroom.
- To assist Special Education Teacher with monitoring and supervising students during school events (e.g., field trips, assemblies, lunch, etc.)
- To assist Special Education Teacher or other certified staff by grading worksheets, documenting student needs, and/or monitoring student progress.
- To follow the instructions made by the assigned SPED teacher(s).
- Assist with possible medical needs of students as trained and directed by the School Nurse.
- To perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Salary : $23 - $27
