To assist in all aspects of hot and cold food preparation, inventory, receiving, and delivery of food to all Head Start center locations. This position is part time hourly position that will be cross trained for all responsibilities in the kitchen as required.
Education and Training: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
License or Certificate: Must have a valid Colorado driver's license.
Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check and Central Registry check.
Other:
- Assist in preparation of hot and cold meals.
- Assist in receiving and inventory duties.
- Assist in proper storage of supplies, both food and nonfood according to county health department regulations.
- Assist in maintaining food service facilities, storage areas, and equipment in a clean, organized, and sanitary manner.
- Assist in the delivery of food and supplies to all Head Start center(s).
- Assist with receiving weekly food service orders and storing according to food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Attending staff meetings and training as required.
- Attend and participate in Head Start events as required, such as the Culture of Literacy Festival and Policy Council meetings.
- Assist in maintaining accurate production and following standardized recipes as written to ensure compliance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations.
- Assist in all food production of special diets as written according to physician and dietitian directed special diet statements and milk substitution forms and ensure there is no cross contamination of allergens and children remain safe while attending Head Start.
- Perform all food delivery from central facility to Head Start centers as required.
- Follow all safety protocols and any policies as written when operating County vehicles.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Hot and cold food preparation tasks such as washing, cutting, and assembling food and ingredients.
- Food preparation methods such as baking, boiling, steaming, and braising.
- Basic mathematical principles and ability to follow written recipes and daily production sheets.
- Precisely able to weigh and measure food.
- Understand written special diet orders and follow safe preparation of food allergy diets to always ensure safety of children.
- Operate a variety of food preparation and cooking equipment.
- Follow and execute recipes for high-volume institutional batch cooking.
- Learn and apply the policies/procedures of Adams County and Head Start as written.
- Follow pertinent federal, state, and local laws as they pertain to health codes, food safety and sanitation regulations and CACFP standard processes.
- Perform sanitation and cleaning of kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships.
