General Purpose
The Dairy Supervisor oversees our dairy section working within the Grocery Department. This role reports directly to the Grocery Manager and involves managing daily operations, ensuring product quality, overseeing inventory, and delivering outstanding customer service. The ideal employee will have a passion for dairy products, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to supporting our local suppliers.

Reports To: Grocery Manager
Principle Responsibilities
- Supervision: Supervise daily operations of the dairy section, ensuring product availability, quality, and compliance with safety standards.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and collaborate with the Grocery Manager to place orders and maintain optimal inventory.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all dairy products meet our quality standards, including freshness, proper storage, product rotation, and presentation.
- Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and motivate staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment within the grocery department.
- Customer Engagement: Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers, answering questions, and offering product recommendations related to dairy products.
- Sales and Merchandising: Implement effective merchandising strategies to enhance product visibility and drive sales in the dairy section.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Supplier Relations: Build and maintain relationships with local dairy suppliers, exploring opportunities for new products and promotions in collaboration with the Grocery Manager.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within a grocery or retail environment, preferably in the dairy department.
- Knowledge of dairy products and best practices for handling and storage.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of inventory management and merchandising principles.
- Ability to lift and move heavy products and work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to move u-boats with heavy loads from one area to another in a safe manner
- Must be able to climb ladders to stock top shelves & refrigerator tops
- Must be able to use eye-hand coordination to stock shelves, clean, price products, and complete department tasks
- Ability to work in cold temperatures (cooler & freezer) for long periods of time
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to demonstrate initiative without direct supervision on duties that have been delegated, reviewed, and previously discussed
- Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers
- Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and managers
