General Purpose
The Floral Associate provides customer-friendly service to our valuable customers and provides the quality products that Adams is known for. This means providing outstanding customer service, keeping displays and coolers stocked, neat, clean and attractive, and being the final line for quality control in the department.
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Reports to: Floral Manager, Floral Supervisor
Job Description
- Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and knowledgeable service
- Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams
- When a customer needs assistance, give the customer priority over the task at hand
- Keep all areas of the department clean and organized, including sales floor, counters, shelves and displays
- Complete cash register transactions
- Wrapping/packaging products attractively
- Taking special orders in person & over the phone
- Clean/prep fresh flowers upon delivery
- Assist customers with selecting & arranging bouquets
- Ability to create a bud vase of simple floral arrangements
- Make various sizes/styles of bows
- Maintain a clean and orderly shop (floors, buckets, windows, etc.)
- Report inventory needs to manager and/or order merchandise
- If assigned, receive, unload and inspect deliveries
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Carry garbage/boxes to compactors
- Able to safely use knives and scissors
- Stand for long periods of time
- Ability to use hot glue gun
- Ability to safely handle all floral tools
- Use hand, wrist and arms
Mental/Reasoning Requirements
- Basic math skills
- Customer service/relations skills
- Knowledge of basic floral design
- Knowledge of basic floral design technique
- Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and managers
- Knowledge of design techniques
- Knowledge of flower care and handling
- Must be able to follow safety procedures
