Job Purpose Summary:
The Lab Intern will support AVO Operations by working side by side with experienced staff to gain experience in a professional industrial laboratory environment as well as perform research and provide solutions in special projects. Each project will address an area of importance to the business related to R&D initiatives, Quality, and/or Food Safety.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Perform inbound, outbound, and work-in-progress product testing according to approved methods with a variety of equipment including auto-titrators, GC, GC-MS, ICP, etc. determining Moisture, fat profiles and contaminant levels, etc.
- Learn sample management and prioritization, documentation storage management, sample inventories, retains and rotations.
- Perform data analysis and enter accurate results into the ERP system, supported by knowledge of products, processes, and specifications.
- Assist the Operations and Quality and Food Safety teams with special projects including R&D initiatives, custom blend formulations, identifying oil types, tracking out of specification batch results, and other requests as needed.
- Learn manufacturing, safety and GMP procedures and requirements associated with vegetable oil processing intended for human and/or animal consumption.
- Prioritize Safety in the lab at all times.
- Other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent field of study
- Practical Lab exposure (lab coursework) preferred; Organic and/or Analytical Chemistry background helpful but not necessary
- Greater than 30 hours of earned college credit
- Graduation date of August 2026 or earlier
Position Requirements:
- Preferred minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Available for a minimum of eight continuous weeks
- Willing to work overtime hours during the week
