Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Freight Management Representative with experience in customer service and logistics. The ideal candidate will ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our Freight Management and will ensure that all tasks are completely in a professional and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carrier Relationship & Management
- Process any freight rate requests from sales and CSRs.
- Respond to any carrier or freight billing issues or requests.
- Handle all carrier claims.
- Attend monthly improvement and monitoring calls with Echo freight management team.
2. Freight Maintenance
- Update and manage freight rate spreadsheet and carrier contact information.
- Accumulate and provide weekly freight cost breakdown to CSM.
- Conduct quarterly freight validation to ensure we are getting competitive rates.
- Keep updated on industry freight standards and negotiate freight rates.
3. Shipping
- Oversee Opendock freight scheduling platform.
- Communicate with Packing and the Mill regarding daily shipments.
- Update orders at days end and reschedule any missed shipments.
- Send out daily shipping schedules to Packing team.
- In coordination with Mill and Pack manage PO IB shipments.
4. 3PL Oversight
- Maintain appropriate inventory at 3PL locations.
- Create transfer orders to appropriate maintain inventory levels.
- Arrange TO shipments to 3PL locations.
- Communicate with appropriate team members if inventory is dragging.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- College degree preferred but not required
- 5 years experience in Customer Service and Logistics required
- 3 years experience in food production a plus
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with virtualization platforms (e.g., vSphere, Hyper-V) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, and security best practices
- Strong knowledge in Microsoft Server Management
- Experience with monitoring tools, ITIL processes, and disaster recovery planning
