Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain attorneys' calendars, including docketing court appearances, meetings, depositions, and deadlines.
- Arrange court appearances, client meetings, depositions, and other engagements, ensuring no scheduling conflicts and notifying attorneys of pending deadlines.
- Prepare and file pleadings and other court documents, serving all appropriate parties.
- Create and maintain client files, records, logs, and other case-related information.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant within a law firm, ideally in med-mal defense or other defense litigation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures.
- Familiarity with the functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts, including filing requirements.
- High proficiency in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), billing software, and online document management software.
- Familiarity with electronic filing procedures in state and federal courts.
- Proficient in tracking billing hours through billing software.
