What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Liens Paralegal position at Adams & Martin Group?
Adams & Martin Group has an opening for a Medical Liens Paralegal to support a national plaintiffs' law firm located downtown St. Louis. Duties include performing legal research and writing, client communications, and other tasks. We are looking for driven, detail-oriented people for this on-site position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist attorneys with administration of insurance subrogation and governmental repayment obligations related to settlement proceeds;
- Draft correspondence, authorizations, transmittal letters, and other legal documents;
- Work with vendors and insurance companies to gather claim information related to clients' medical treatment(s);
- Track and monitor client files, calendars, and provide status updates;
- Perform internal and online legal research;
- Review insurance policy plan language;
- Audit medical billing codes;
- Communicate with clients, litigation teams, insurance companies, vendors, and government agencies to resolve liens.
Skills Desired:
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast paced environment (time and content sensitive deadlines);
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize;
- Strong computer and procedural skills (MS Office);
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Detail oriented with the ability to analyze and problem solve;
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team to establish and foster working relationships with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and clients, as well as with insurance companies and vendor contacts.
Preferred Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience;
- Paralegal degree or certificate;
- Product liability or personal injury experience is a plus;
- Lien resolution or subrogation experience is a plus;
- Familiarity with ICD-9/10 billing codes.
Salary: up to $57K
