Job Purpose
Drive a commercial waste collection truck to empty dumpsters from commercial sites.
Tasks
Using Front-Load, Roll-Off, or Grapple vehicles to service commercial businesses, picking up Dumpsters
Clean up loose trash or spills that may occur.
Clean trucks or compactor bodies after landfill trips and / or routes have been completed.
Communicate with dispatchers concerning delays, unsafe sites, accidents, equipment breakdowns, or other maintenance problems.
Drive trucks, following established routes, through residential streets or alleys or through business or industrial areas.
Dump refuse or recyclable materials at disposal sites.
Fill out defective equipment reports, as well as route / productivity sheets.
Inspect trucks prior to beginning routes to ensure safe operating condition.
Operate automated or semi-automated hoisting devices that raise refuse bins and dump contents into openings in truck bodies.
Operate equipment that compresses collected refuse.
Refuel trucks or add other fluids, such as oil or brake fluid.
Read route sheet or app, follow map, and service each stop as assigned
Requirements
This position requires the employee :
To be able to stand for long hours
To stoop and bend with ease
To be able to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds (to waist height) unassisted
To be able to step up into a truck repeatedly
To work in an environment that often smells musty, putrid, or rancid
To potentially work in an environment that has seasonally high heat or low temperatures due to being outdoors
To potentially work in an environment that has wet or humid conditions due to be being outdoors
To work near moving mechanical parts
Must be able to pass a drug test and have a clean driving record
Offer contingent on a background check
Qualifications
Must possess a Valid CDL Class B (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement
No major traffic violations or at-fault accidents in previous three (3) years time frame.
Must be registered with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse and provide consent for pre-employment queries.
Minimum three (3) years experience driving Front-load vehicles preferred.
