Job Description
Adams State University seeks a highly motivated candidate to serve as the Director of the Writing Studio. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Writing Studio, training and mentoring tutors, building relationships across campus, creating opportunities for student engagement and success, and working with a diverse and under-served population of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the Writing Studio
- Train and mentor tutors in writing center pedagogy

Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Rhetoric and Composition or English, with experience tutoring student writing in a college or university writing center and/or experience teaching first-year writing at the university level. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate knowledge of, sensitivity to, and ability to work effectively with, the educational needs of individuals and groups with a diverse range of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, English, or related field
- Experience teaching and/or working with multilingual students
- Ability or experience working with historically under-served and/or underrepresented populations, and first-generation college students
- Commitment to professional development
