SUMMARY
The Director of Staff Development is a senior leader for ADAPT of the Hudson Valley Program Services, responsible for the oversight of all agency training and supervision of department employees. The Director of Staff Development must be thoroughly knowledgeable of the operations, policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards necessary to support identifying the training needs of all program service areas. The Director of Staff Development will serve as a leader with vision to support a culture of excellence, teamwork, continuous quality improvement, shared learning and successful outcomes, in line with best practices and innovation.
The Director of Staff Development ensures training is developed and provided consistent with our Mission and in compliance with all regulations and quality standards while supporting the organizations strategic plan and annual goals. This is an in-office position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Staff Development will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for provision and oversight of training for all services, including but not limited to residential, day, supported employment and community services.
- Ensures each program receives the training and supports needed to provide for appropriate safeguards and quality service provision.
- Books instructors for basic courses and organizes training schedule at all training locations.
- Initiate, lead, and support program initiatives and program development, with the goal of leading the industry in philosophical shifts and responding to individual, programmatic, and community needs. This includes trainings that help the programs operate safely, within established budgets.
- Ensure design of the structure for orientation and training supports quality outcomes in service delivery, promotes a learning culture and ongoing staff development.? Competency demonstration, measurable outcomes, and development and support of career paths and career ladders should be incorporated.
- Develops and implements training programs for program staff.
- Develops training guides, information, presentations, and other tools using a variety of media and print methods.
- Develops and provides training for trainers to maximize their abilities to impart information.
- Manage the electronic learning management system and collaborate with program leadership to address needs accordingly.
- Support the Employee Experience Specialists, ensuring their role is one that enhances our orientation, training and retention.
- May assist in or complete writing grants or surveys designed to maximize or bring in training funds.
- Performs other related duties as needed.

- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Fully conversant with agency selected word processing, database, spreadsheet computer software programs and E-Mail system.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including business correspondence, record keeping systems and office equipment
- Knowledge of principles of managing and coordinating administrative, secretarial and/or clerical functions
- Good organizational and customer relation skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED. College degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of related work experience
