What are the responsibilities and job description for the Open Vistas - Day Habilitation position at ADAPT of the Hudson Valley?
We are direct care employees providing services for individuals that attend the program with a commitment to providing services which are valuable and unique to each individual. As such our job is to provide opportunities for individuals to learn and grow, to socialize and communicate with others. We consistently seek new and innovative ways to provide person centered and individual based goals and desires.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Individuals interested in position must have good organizational skills and be self-motivated and carry a positive attitude.
- Direct support to individuals, life skills training, providing opportunities for community inclusion and outings, providing recreational, leisure and educational activities
- Further, oversight of individuals’ health and safety, meal preparation, use of agency vehicles.
- Staff will also receive comprehensive training in our New Staff Orientation program and further on-site training once on board.
- Position is for full time, forty hours per week, the hours being 8am to 4pm with moderate flexibility, Monday through Friday. .

- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, residents and their families
- Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Six months of related experience is preferred but not required
- Salaried employees must be approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP) at time of hire or within six months of date of hire in salaried status
