Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to achieve project objectives, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) and milestones are met.
- Lead innovative research on electro-optic devices, including electronically modulated integrated photonics, for applications in quantum photonics, sensing, and communication.
- Independently develop and validate electro-optic design concepts, incorporating external process design kits (PDKs) and design rule checking (DRC) methodologies while optimizing performance.
- Collaborate with vendors to advance fabrication techniques for cutting-edge photonic and electronic devices.
- Publish research findings in top-tier journals and present at industry-leading conferences.
- Engage in frequent technical discussions with a diverse network of scientists, university collaborators, and internal management teams.
Work Schedule:
- Hybrid work model: Onsite 4 days per week with remote work on Fridays.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related field, OR a Master’s degree with equivalent industry experience.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Strong background in electro-optic technology, including simulation, design, layout, and lab measurement of electro-optic and integrated photonic prototype devices.
- Hands-on experience in electronics testing on optical tables, including automation of experiments and data collection using Python.
- Solid understanding of wave physics, including electromagnetics and wave optics, with proficiency in numerical simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, Lumerical, Tidy3D).
- Experience in packaging electronic and photonic devices.
- Familiarity with spin-defect quantum concepts.
- Proficiency in software tools for prototyping, including Python, Klayout, and PCB schematic and layout editors.
