The Role: Aircraft Interior & Support Structures Design
As an Aircraft Interior Design Engineer, you will apply industry-standard engineering techniques to design interior and secondary support structures for aircraft. You will be responsible for creating CAD models and engineering drawings in a CATIA V5 / ENOVIA V6 / 3DX PDM environment, ensuring all work aligns with project requirements, company standards, and engineering best practices. This role requires an innovative problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and meets deadlines consistently.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Modeling: Develop engineering drawings for interior details and assemblies for integration into transport category aircraft fuselage structures.
- Problem Solving: Independently resolve design issues in line with project specifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project engineers and other teammates in an in-person office environment.
- Quality & Standards: Apply industry standards such as ANSI/ASME Y14 or MIL-STD-100G to drawings, with an understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices.
- Composite Knowledge: Utilize experience in working with glass/epoxy honeycomb composite panel assemblies and airframe interfaces.
Minimum Qualifications
- Work Location: Must be able to work 100% onsite.
- Work Authorization: US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Experience: 5 years in mechanical design engineering.
- Aircraft Experience: 3 years in aircraft interiors, secondary support structures, modifications, and/or VIP Completions.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA V5) and familiarity with PDM environments (ENOVIA V6 / 3DX).
- Design Abilities: Strong ability to create engineering drawings for production, focusing on assembly integration and detailed design for aircraft interiors.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills for team-based work.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Software Knowledge: Experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, CATIA V5, ENOVIA V6 / 3DX, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Airframe Experience: Background in airframe structures and repairs, including knowledge in classical structural analysis techniques and load path.
- Additional CAD Skills: Familiarity with SolidWorks and IVT (Integration Visualization Tool).
- Remote Collaboration Tools: Proficiency in using tools like WebEx, GoToMeeting, Zoom, MS Teams, or Skype for remote meetings.
