Are you a detail-oriented HR professional with a passion for payroll, benefits, and compliance? We’re looking for a Human Resources Coordinator to join a growing construction services firm in their Kansas City corporate office. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the HR function in a high-growth, team-oriented environment.
What You’ll Do:
You will be responsible for managing core HR functions and supporting a collaborative office culture. This includes:
✅ End-to-end onboarding and orientation
✅ Accurate and timely payroll processing (semi-monthly via Paycor)
✅ Benefits administration and open enrollment coordination
✅ Maintaining employee records and HRIS systems
✅ Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and multi-state employment regulations
✅ Supporting employee performance and workplace policies
✅ Helping to build out HR processes and structure as the company scales
Core Responsibilities:
Human Resources
- Coordinate recruiting activities, background checks, and new hire onboarding
- Maintain up-to-date job descriptions and HR documentation
- Support conflict resolution and performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure consistent policy application and compliance with employment laws
- Keep the Employee Handbook and HR processes current and communicated
Payroll, Compensation & Benefits
- Process payroll using Paycor and ensure timesheet accuracy
- Assist with bonus and commission calculations
- Partner with brokers during annual benefit reviews and enrollment periods
- Manage benefits documentation, employee communications, and compliance notices
- Administer retirement plan contributions and HSA/FSA reconciliations
- Handle payroll tax setup for new states/locations as needed
- Coordinate with external vendors on workers’ compensation claims
- Contribute to reporting and analytics in Excel
What You Bring:
- 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources and Payroll
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Solid knowledge of employment and payroll tax laws
- Intermediate Excel skills for reporting and analysis
- Familiarity with HRIS/HRMS systems (Paycor experience is a big plus!)
