Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role in the Los Angeles area for a Build/R&D Engineer. The role will be responsible for hardware prototype construction across a variety of hardware and iterations. The role involves setting up from-scratch build processes and eventually full manufacturing systems to build hardware at rate. Specific hardware includes that of a thermo-electric power plant including turbines, compressors, rotordynamic hardware, heat exchangers, valves and other supporting equipment. The role involves working closely with thermodynamics and turbomachinery experts, hardware design engineers, and other build engineering resources. Over the course of the coming months and years the team will be working closely together to develop from-scratch and novel hardware at increasingly larger scales.
This role will adapt and change significantly over time as the company grows and changes. Candidates must be willing to be flexible in their work scope and help do what it takes to build the startup.
Looking for candidates with very strong fundamentals and experience applying them in the real world including hands-on experience with hardware they have developed.
Compensation includes significant equity stake in the startup. Job title and salary is variable based on the applicant and will be chosen to best suit the hire's level.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 5 years of industry experience
- Experience with hands-on from-scratch build of hardware as well as bringing up production processes to manufacture at rate
- Good communication and team-working skills
- Experience with high level project management over the course of a product development
- Highly self-motivated
- Experience in the aerospace, automotive, or power generation industries
