Security Officer - Level 2 - Bernalillo County Metropolitan Courthouse

Summary The Security Guard position is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors of their assigned post. Positions Type and Hours of Work Full-time:  Sunday - Wednesday, 2:30pm MST - 11:00pm MST Essential Tasks (minimum requirements) to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation Perform security patrols on premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows and gates Investigate and write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations Completion of Daily Activity Reports of each shift Answer alarms and investigate disturbances Prompt and timely deggy system checks Provide any needed assistance to customer, employees and visitors according to the site procedures Performs other related duties as assigned by Captain and Sergeants  Education, Experience and Skills High school diploma or equivalent required plus any Security/Law Enforcement experience preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age.  Hold and maintain Security Guard status. Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures.  Demonstrated strong English verbal and written communication skills Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures Ability write and investigate required reports  Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions utilizing ADC LTD NM and customer policy and procedures  Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information  Supervisory Responsibility This position does not carry any supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment & Physical Demands Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to twelve (12) hours per day. Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs. Work is performed indoors and outdoors and require an individual to withstand extreme inclement weather such as heat, humidity, cold, or severe weather. Unpredictable crisis situations require the ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or relieving bladder or bowels. Ability to remain alert with ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations.  Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis.
