Health care emergency management and public health professionals - Adcare Educational Institute of Maine is looking for a Training and Exercise Coordinator in the area of Emergency Preparedness for programs in Maine!
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to AdCare Educational Institute of Maine’s Director of Special Programs, the Training and Exercise Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the deliverables of the contract for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the focus of which is to ensure the emergency preparedness response of the programs, while operating within the scope and funding requirements of the contract.

Required Qualifications:
- Certificate or Degree in Emergency Management and/or Public Health. May be substituted with HS Diploma and commensurate direct experience.
- 2 years full-time professional experience in public health, health care, emergency management, or closely related field. Equivalent part-time experience acceptable.
- Knowledge in the areas of training and exercise, public health, hospital preparedness, and emergency management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiar with following SOP (standard operating procedures) in health or human services environment
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation for prompt reporting to required emergency events.
- Must be able to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple tasks and have a flexible schedule to properly respond to emergency events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management and/or Public Health
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination/ management in the area of public health and/or health care emergency preparedness
- Experience with reporting on associated training metrics and contract requirements
- Subject matter expertise that can increase Heath Care Coalition productivity
- Foundational understanding of Incident Command System and National Incident Management Systems, and other relevant FEMA trainings.
- Completion of HSEEP training and HICS Logistic Section Chief training.
- Familiarity with Maine’s public health infrastructure and Maine’s Health Care Coalition.
Essential Tasks
- Ensure public health and health care responders receive access to appropriate levels of training in order to safely respond during a disaster or public health emergency.
- Ensure Maine DHHS emergency response plans are exercised routinely
- Identify gaps in planning and support the coordination of appropriate activities to address them.
- Support training and exercise focused Hospital Preparedness Program to achieve deliverables.
- Engage in Professional Development activities to ensure subject matter expertise is maintained.
- Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and report on Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
- Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and report on exercises and associated trainings within Maine CDC.
- Assist partners, such as Maine Health Care Coalition leadership and membership, as needed in preparedness activities.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) for associated organizations.
- Develop SOP where none exists, with input from program director and required stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks in an office environment
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and move a maximum of 40lbs.
Travel Requirements
- Travel will be required up to 25% within the State of Maine. Reliable transportation and ability to maintain valid driver’s license is required.
- Schedule: While we expect the schedule to generally be a routine forty (40) hours, due to the critical nature of emergency response requirements, there may be additional requirements of time, potentially including holidays or weekends.
