Add Black is a Creative Design Agency located in Long Beach, California who focuses on the design and manufacturing of swimwear and cover ups. We have an immediate opportunity for an energetic and passionate team player to add to our dynamic team of technical experts. The position requires technical design experience in both categories of swimwear and cover-ups.
Job Overview:
The Technical Designer rounds out Technical Design team with owning product categories from development to production. Support team members with multi-level technical design functions in preparation for fittings, tech packages and vendor communication.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Communicate directly with cross-functional teams to align on product standards and brand integrity for each account.
- Responsible for tracking and managing samples from proto to TOP stage for each individual account.
- Handle development of tech packs, review details with designers and managers to create initial specs.
- Organize workload independently to prepare for fittings, measuring samples, reviewing workmanship and construction reflects design intent.
- Timely completion of fit comments to all vendors to ensure fit process stays on calendar.
- Manage fit models and schedule weekly fittings.
- Confidently step into live fittings and offer fit solutions. Partners with team and/or customer to perform fit adjustments and communicate changes needed to improve garment fit and function.
- Review pattern pieces and provide feedback to vendors on fit corrections.
- Issue and evaluate grading to vendors and approve graded nests for production.
Job Requirements:
- Must have swimwear and RTW experience in Womenswear.
- Must have advanced fitting experience on live models and mannequins.
- Must have a degree in Fashion Design and related experience with Sewing, Fitting, Pattern Making.
- Knowledge in grading and the ability to understand grade rules for multiple categories.
- Familiarity with knit and woven fabrics and possess expert knowledge of contemporary and elevated construction.
- Experience working with multiple calendars with the flexibility to shift should priorities change.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be highly detail oriented.
· Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Illustrator.
· Patternmaking software required. OPTITEX experience a plus.
