What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Engineer Intern - Data Science / ADM (US) position at Addepar?

The Role
As a Data Science intern, you will help Addepar automate data extraction from unstructured documents using various machine learning tools and processes. Mentorship from senior machine learning and software engineers will guide your work while providing the opportunity to learn the newest techniques in natural language processes, such as large language models (LLMs), and best practices for the machine learning development cycle.
Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for roles in Colorado, California, and New York.
The current range for this role is $34 - $53.

What You’ll Do
- Contribute to machine learning models and backend deployment code
- Research methods to solve data extraction problems in documents
- Collect and curate data sets to train machine learning models
- Test models using appropriate metrics
- Build production ready code
Who You Are
- Interest or experience with using basic machine learning or data science principles
- Good knowledge of python and software engineering practices
- Interest or experience with natural language processing, named entity recognition (NER) and/or LLMs
- Collaborative and curious learner
