Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in addiction counseling and a commitment to helping individuals overcome substance use disorders. This role involves providing support, guidance, and therapeutic interventions to clients in PHP and IOP. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with therapist and clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs and challenges.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to support clients in their recovery journey.
- Utilize clinical counseling techniques and behavioral therapy to address underlying issues related to substance abuse.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on assessments of clients' needs, including PTSD care and behavior management strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and any relevant ICD-10 coding for insurance purposes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for clients in programs
- Provide education on addiction medicine and resources available for recovery support.
- Facilitate referrals to additional services as needed to enhance client outcomes.
Qualifications
- A degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred relevant certifications in substance abuse counseling are preferred, will accept CSAC-A and provide supervision hours toward CSAC.
- Experience in individual group counseling and addiction counseling is essential.
- Knowledge of clinical counseling practices, behavioral therapy techniques, and ICD-9 coding is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with PTSD care and behavior management strategies is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on best practices in addiction treatment.
