The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for organizing and overseeing all nursing operations at all levels of care. The ideal candidate for this position has proven experience in a nursing leadership role, outstanding organizational and communication skills, and in-depth knowledge of addiction treatment and healthcare industry policies.
Entry Level Qualifications:
Graduate of approved school of nursing, current license State of Mississippi, one-year experience in supervisory capacity or one year experience in chemical dependency nursing. Masters degree in Nursing preferred.
1. Must be able to continuously sit from 6 to 8 hours per 8-hour shift.
3. Must be able to see 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aide acceptable).
4. Must be capable of administering CPR (and be certified) and drawing blood.
5. Walk within the facility approximately ½ mile per 8 hour shift.
7. Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations.
8. If recovering, three years of continuous verifiable abstinence.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide assistance in supervision of nursing staff as well as performing all duties of nurse counselor. Carry out protocols as directed.
Know and abide by the general provisions of 42 CFR Part 2, “Confidentiality of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Patient Records”, and 45 CFR “Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.” This position has unrestricted access to patient identifying and patient health information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Director of Nursing in supervising and participate in timely, accurate, patient record documentation pertinent to nursing assessments, treatment planning, treatment rendered, patient's response to and progress in treatment, physician's orders, unusual occurrences, infections, medicines, and other standard and accepted nursing duties.
- Assist Director of Nursing to assure nursing participation in multidisciplinary team case conferences.
- Assist Director of Nursing in monitoring and evaluating, in conjunction with the center's consulting pharmacist, medication usage to include review of medication records, adverse reactions, and medication errors reporting. Monthly results to the Quality Improvement Committee.
- Assist Director of Nursing to assure comprehensive orientation and training of all nursing personnel performing and presenting in-service programs to others as needed.
- Assist Director of Nursing to assure that active patient records are maintained in described order and that all loose documents are filed in a timely manner.
- Assist Director of Nursing in personnel management of nursing staff to include recruiting nurses, hire, and scheduling.
- Assist Director of Nursing by working in concert with the Clinical Director to assure the most therapeutic environment possible.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must not appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients' needs and concerns.
- Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients and prospective clients.
- Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner.
- Regular attendance.
