The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding will complete variety of clerical projects, organizational and record keeping tasks for New York City Regional Office (NYCRO), including, but not limited to: • Maintain files and databases for NYCRO staff which includes recertification reviews, site visits program budgets, provider information and all other correspondence for providers • Log and distribute mail to NYC RO staff• Provide telephone coverage during hours of operation including lunch coverage• Assist with performing clerical tasks for major projects• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Permanent Qualifications: Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding, G-6, or a New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a position allocated to salary grade 4 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.Candidates not already in a typing title must pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates the ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy by completion of probation. ~OR~NY HELPS Qualifications: There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title. Additional Comments This position includes a downstate adjustment of $3,400.The salary range listed for this posting reflects the full range for this graded position, factoring in annual performance advances based on satisfactory annual performance reviews. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate (starting rate of the salary range) listed above, plus any applicable Location Pay/Geographic Pay/Shift Pay differentials. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations, and negotiated union contracts.Generous benefits package, which may include: medical, dental and vision coverage; NYS Employees Retirement System (pension); optional Deferred Compensation Program; tuition assistance; generous paid leave benefits; compensation for 13 State holidays per year; access to NY 529 and NY ABLE College Savings Programs; and Flex Spending Accounts. For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
