- A minimum of five years of experience in the field of public education, including experience as a classroom teacher
- Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly collaborative style and a strong team and consensus builder
- Ability to use data to initiate opportunities to improve instruction
- Bilingual skills, preferred
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
In order to maintain a positive learning environment for the junior high school students and staff, the Dean of Students will :
Cooperates with the Principal and the Assistant Principal for establishing and implementing guidelines for proper student discipline.Interprets the school discipline program to teachers, students, and community.Consults with administrators and faculty on the matters of student development.Cooperates with the Principal and the Assistant Principal in establishing and maintaining an effective learning climate in the school.Administers disciplinary measures to students in cooperation with the Principal.Works with students on an individual basis and in groups in the solution of personal problems dealing with home and family relations, health, and emotional adjustment.Supervises scheduled extracurricular activities / events, as coordinated by the principal.Assists the principal with the supervision and evaluation of certified and educational support personnel.Contacts teachers, administrators, and elementary school personnel when appropriate.Maintains contacts with social service agencies outside the district as required by the needs of the students and / or teachers.Communicates with parents regarding all disciplinary issues.Cooperates with the Principal and Assistant Principal in conducting staff meetings and in-service programs (i.e., policy change, new programs, etc.).Attends school-sponsored functions and keeps the Principal informed of school's activities and problems.Attends special education meetings, as necessary.Implements School Board Policy, board / teacher agreements, and administrative regulations.Assumes such other duties and responsibilities delegated by the Principal.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 10 month position, following school calendar, plus 10 additional work days TBD
SALARY AND BENEFITS : $75,000-$79,500, Paid TRS, Sick / Personal Days, Paid Health and Dental
