Position Summary:
The General Manager is a staff management position responsible for overseeing all strategy implementation, engineering, sales, marketing, manufacturing, and operational support functions of the business segment. They ensure positive and profitable customer relationships that contribute to the achievement of financial goals and business objectives.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staff management duties include, but are not limited to interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, counseling, training, delegating work assignments, and disciplining associates while enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Ensures all business locations within their assigned geographical area follow contractual agreements and ISO compliance.
- Direct management of a department, section, unit, or group involving responsibility for results in terms of cost, methods, and personnel. Full accountability for hiring, discipline, discharge, performance appraisals, salary administration, etc.
- Has full accountability for the operation of the business segment; oversee all manufacturing operations, engineering, marketing, quality, sales, and support functions.
- Has full accountability for assigned P&L; prepares annual budget goals and projections; ensures budget goals are met and/or exceeded; reviews and approves business invoices and expenses (plant, maintenance, and CapEx).
- Produces statistical and analytical data from which business decisions are made; furnishes reports to forecast estimates and schedules of goods in process and needs for future production or use; conducts analyses of inventory levels and coordinates with production and/or sales requirements.
- Develop strategic marketing plans for new or revised product offerings.
- Analyzes the results of various service levels, associate productivity, and company profitability reports; makes recommendations for and implements strategies for continual improvements.
- Prepares for schedules and conducts monthly and/or quarterly business reviews; regularly visits customers and keeps a pulse on service, site operations, and reputation.
- Ensures production and/or service objectives are met; forecasts job requirements and identifies any potential barriers; establishes priorities, controls processes through KPI tracking, and resolves issues to maintain efficiency.
- Oversee the development of vendor and client relationships and ensure positive relationships are nurtured.
- Leads vendor selection, negotiations, and procurement best practices; collaborates with other purchasing leaders as well as their teams as necessary.
- Effectively plans the use of personnel, production machinery, and other resources.
- Oversee third-party logistic partners.
- Provides directions to inventory planning and control.
- Monitors accounts payable activity and determines when escalated customer conversations are necessary; initiates and holds critical client conversations regarding outstanding payments.
- Serves as a point of customer escalation when issues are not resolved.
- Partners with Sales Management to explore, solicit, and obtain new sales opportunities; appropriately engages sales when leads are uncovered; assists with and/or participates in sales presentations as requested; assists with implementing new sales and/or product strategies.
- Maintains a safe and secure work environment; provides safety, equipment operation, and procedural training; or collaborates with training leaders to ensure associates are properly trained.
- Tracks reports on standardized operating metrics; provides mentorship regarding the use of lean tools and concepts.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of related business experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that gives the individual the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. Experience should include:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the manufacturing industry; experience with tempered water systems, safety, and protective eye products preferred.
- Strong computer knowledge and aptitude to learn various applications mandatory; manufacturing operational software preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong communication skills, effective problem-solving skills, demonstrated use of sound judgment, good organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to maintain composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.
- Demonstration of basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals); ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent preferred.
- Ability to compile routine reports and write correspondence.
- Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
- Must be authorized to work in the US and able to travel domestically up to 50% of a calendar work year.

Salary : $140,000 - $175,000
