Addison Group is recruiting for a client in the healthcare industry seeking a Prior Authorization Representative. This hybrid role involves working with insurance providers to ensure all services are properly authorized before patient care.
About the Role:
The Prior Authorization Representative will coordinate authorizations for services, working with third-party payers to confirm coverage and extend authorizations as needed. This role involves updating patient information, managing work queues, and achieving departmental productivity goals.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain authorizations from insurance providers prior to patient services.
- Document and update authorizations in the system and scan documents as required.
- Maintain assigned work queues, ensuring tasks are completed within expected timelines.
- Verify patient eligibility for care and resolve any coverage discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate patient demographic and insurance information in the system.
- Consistently meet and exceed productivity expectations.
Qualifications:
Experience in prior authorizations, especially in an ambulatory or surgery center setting. Familiarity with high-value or specialty authorizations (e.g., dermatology) is preferred. Proficient communication skills, particularly in handling phone-based authorizations with doctors. Experience using EPIC software is required. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not mandatory. Strong references indicating excellent attendance and punctuality.
Pay range and compensation package:
Pay: $19 - $23 per hour (based on experience)
