Location : Ashland, VA

Salary Range : $78,200 - $105,800 salary 10% bonus (DOE)

Shift : 2pm-10 : 30pm or 10pm-6 : 30am are the only shifts available

Position Summary :

The primary function of this position is to assess mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic controls to optimize operations, material handling systems, and overall building conditions within a distribution center. Responsibilities include oversight of building maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, parts management, and vendor interactions. A working understanding of user interfaces and electronic components related to automated systems is required. This role collaborates closely with various teams and leadership to ensure stability, scalability, and performance of solutions. The position includes supervision of facilities personnel.

Location & Travel :

This position will be based locally in a distribution center, with potential travel to support additional sites, train new technicians and staff, and assist with automation rollouts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

• Maintain facility systems, including conveyors and related control systems (e.g., photo eyes, solenoids, variable frequency drives).
• Perform repairs and replacements on various mechanical components (e.g., bearings, motors, conveyor belts).
• Supervise facilities personnel, directing work and providing training as necessary.
• Review schematics and troubleshoot basic panel indicators; utilize manuals for diagnostics.
• Address operational concerns in collaboration with IT and vendor support.
• Train staff on material handling equipment, processes, and quality control.
• Define and execute training programs for maintenance personnel; create documentation on system functionality.
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulatory requirements; maintain necessary records.
• Respond professionally to inquiries and resolve operational issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands :

The role requires regular walking, standing, and climbing stairs, as well as the ability to lift / move objects up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities include close vision and depth perception.

Work Environment :

The work environment is moderately noisy, with exposure to dust and changing weather conditions. The position demands flexibility in changing priorities and the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
