The primary function of the Technical Solutions Analyst is to author technical user stories and acceptance criteria for a product engineering team. This will encompass 75% of their day-to-day time. The TSA will use a combination of communication and collaboration skills, and past software development experience, to seamlessly interact with non-technical people (Product resources and business SMEs) as well as highly technical resources in the dev team. Their technical background will allow them to write detailed technical requirements independently without relying on an architect or lead developer to fill in some of the finer details. This role is the tip of the spear for software engineering. They are critical in intake and definition of requirements.
A background as a software developer is essential in order to understand how our systems operate, and how requested changes impact those systems both in the area(s) to be changed as well as any downstream sub-systems that may be affected. This role will be required to read/debug code and/or query databases to research the necessary information to write their tickets more effectively. This role will not deliver technical work by writing code, creating databases, or conducting code reviews for the purposes of accepting delivered work.
