Safety Director experienced working within the Commercial/Industrial Space. (Minimum 5 years relevant experience required with Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety) – Atlanta, GA. A leading Mechanical Contractor in the Atlanta and West Georgia area is seeking a qualified Safety Director responsible for leading and managing the Company’s safety initiatives, safety training and loss control programs. Objective:

Direct, develop and oversee the general health and safety policies and procedures of the Company. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations. Working in concert with Safety Managers to implement safety programs to the general workforce.

 

Job Summary:

Develop and implement programs that ensure a safe workplace both in house and project specific locations. Provide programs that include safety orientation, skill training, proper safety preparedness, job instruction and reporting procedures. Implement a systemic process to collect data and analyze the root causes of accidents and generate the required reporting. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the Company’s Safety Program. Develops budgets, policies and procedures to support the overall success of the safety program. Responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. Responsible for ensuring that quality training and best safety practices are in place for a safe and effective workplace.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures

·        Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines and OSHA guidelines

·        Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training

·        Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies

·        Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents

·        Suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for safety issues

·        Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics

·        Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis

·        Review existing policies and procedures

·        Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety

·        Conduct risk assessment

·        Enforce preventative measures

·        Recruit and train safety committee team members

·        Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes

·        Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety

·        Demonstrate a Continuous Improvement mindset through participation in events and activities that lead to financial gain, time savings, and/or waste reduction for the business.


Secondary and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Assist Implementation of an On-Boarding Safety process for new hires
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of overall strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization
  • Nurture a positive working environment
  • Assist in managing a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Help establish current market pay scales and benefits programs within our industry
  • Working with team members assess training needs to apply in the development of specific training
  • Report to management and provide decision support through Safety metrics
  • Assist CFO to ensure legal compliance throughout safety resource management


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard identification and corrections, environmental regulations, workers compensation and human behavior and physical attributes related to job capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, HRIS systems and other safety related electronic platforms required for reporting and tracking.
  • OSHA General Industry Certification: CPR and First Aid Certifications a plus
  • Be willing to travel when necessary.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel); strong report writing skills required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to facilitate training sessions or meetings with a large group of craft and staff employees
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and interact with client representatives, project managers, and superintendents required
  • Exposure to Industrial and Manufacturing experience preferred, but not required
