Commercial Plumbing Project Estimator (Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience required in the Mechanical/Industrial Contracting Field as a Project Estimator) – A leading Mechanical Industrial Contractor in the West Georgia area is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Estimator to join our aggressively growing team. The Commercial Plumbing Project Estimator is a critical role within or Plumbing Construction and Retro/Industrial Group. This role will be responsible for estimating larger Industrial and Commercial projects. This role has primary responsibility for not only estimating but overseeing estimating and processes relating to the estimating team. Provide support in the constructability process, and facilitate interpretation of drawings Promote an atmosphere of teamwork and company loyalty. Delegate and organize the work of subordinates by establishing goals and objectives.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive bids. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of plumbing systems, and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and blueprints.
- Prepare detailed and accurate plumbing cost estimates, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Analyze job sites and assess project requirements to ensure accurate bidding.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure cost efficiency.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop accurate and competitive bid proposals.
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks, including budget constraints and scheduling conflicts.
- Participate in bid reviews, negotiations, and project handoffs.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and pricing fluctuations.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in plumbing estimation, preferably in commercial construction.
- Education: High school diploma required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., FastPIPE, QuickPen, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems, codes, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Certifications: Plumbing licenses or certifications (e.g., Journeyman or Master Plumber) are a plus.
