Position: Assistant Controller
Location: Princeton, NJ
Salary: 140k – 170k Bonus
Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a small, public medical device company. This position will involve a blend of hands-on accounting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis. The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller and other members of the finance team to ensure the company maintains accurate financial records, complies with all regulatory requirements, and supports strategic financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q), SOX controls, and other regulatory requirements specific to public companies.
- Accounting Oversight: Support the daily accounting operations, including managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Financial Analysis: Prepare and review financial analysis, including budget vs. actual performance, variance analysis, and forecasting to provide insights into business performance.
- Audit Support: Assist with both internal and external audits, working closely with auditors to provide requested documentation and resolve issues as needed.
- Internal Controls: Ensure proper internal controls are in place and operational for accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Month-End Close: Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting of financial results.
- Cost Accounting: Monitor and analyze cost structures related to production and product costs, including working with operations to ensure accurate cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Tax Compliance: Support the preparation of tax filings, including federal, state, and local taxes, and ensure timely payments are made.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the automation and streamlining of accounting and financial processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
- 5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a public medical device or healthcare-related company.
- Proficiency in Great Plains desired.
- Strong Excel skills for financial modeling and analysis.
