What are the responsibilities and job description for the Neuro Support Staff position at Addon Support Services?
About the Role
The ideal candidate would work as a supporter of individuals that are neurodiverse with intensive support needs or even challenging behaviors(Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Prader-Willie etc) to teach them life skills, engage them in fun activities during the day, while also supporting them through the learning process (tutoring), helping them learn coping and communication skills, drive them to appointments or for fun outings , support with personal assistance tasks, and keeping them gainfully occupied. The candidate would implement a person centered, behavioral support care plan designed and maintained by a Clinical Supervisor and gather quantifiable behavioral data necessary for the Support team to determine the effectiveness of the care plan.
This candidate would be part of the support team for specific individuals and would assist the individual at home or identified community setting. This includes relieving the family members from providing support of basic self-help and other activities of daily living, including interaction, socialization, and continuation of daily routines which family members would ordinarily perform. Some additional activities of daily living may include; safety supervision, ambulation assistance, meal prep, feeding, toileting, bathing, errands, transportation, dressing, and medication reminders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and behavioral support/interventions to assigned clients
- Assists clients with grooming, toileting, eating/meal preparation when necessary
- Provide crisis intervention
- Encourage independence
- Maintain patient safety and comfort at all times
- Implement behavioral plans and communication plans
- Document care per policies and procedures
- Participate in rehabilitation and treatment programs, help with personal hygiene
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
- Add to the quality of life of the individual being supported
Requirements
- Full COVID-19 vaccination (required).
- Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to San Jose, CA 95131 before starting work.
- Passion for working with neurodiverse individuals and supporting their unique needs.
- Patience, empathy, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience in home health, behavioral health, pediatrics, or psychiatry (preferred but not required).
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
