General Description of Duties: Under the supervision and in collaboration with the Site Supervisor, the Site Assistant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and adheres to policy and procedures related to the preparation and serving of meals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Preparing and serving meals as outlined by the Nutritional Program of New Mexico.
• Monitoring and assisting in the delivery of home delivered meals.
• Maintaining and cleaning the kitchen area, and ensuring all equipment is clean, working properly and safe to operate.
• Overseeing and monitoring the proper storage of food and supplies. Ensure leftover food is packaged, labeled, dated, stored and frozen as a home delivered meal within a two week time frame, or is disposed of properly.
• Providing information to the Site Supervisor of food and kitchen supplies needed to prepare the monthly menu at the center.
• Assist in completing and maintaining all documents pertinent to the overall operations of the kitchen. And other duties as assigned.
  
  

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year experience in food preparation is required.
• Bilingual capacity is required; English and Spanish.
• Must have basic computer skills. Must have strong organizational, written, problem solving, verbal communication and time management skills.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with internal and external customers of Adelante. Have the ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures.
• Have the ability to maintain harmonious, courteous, and considerate relationships, while fostering a collaborative teamwork environment with both agency employees and the public.
  
  

Other Requirements: Must pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM driver’s license, and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation and agency insurable driving record. Must be able to sit, perform keyboarding functions occasionally. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder(s) frequently. May be required to visit various locations in order to carry out the essential job duties. Job Type: Full Time - Monday - Friday 9:00am to 2:00pm

Pay: From $14.75 per hour
