RESPONSIBILITIES:
As part of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Team, the Floater Teacher Assistant is responsible for developing strong nurturing relationships with children and forming a strong working relationship with their fellow teachers. The ECE Floater Teacher Assistant will work in partnership with teachers across all school sites, the ECE coordinators and the ECE Manager to implement the daily operations of the ECE program and to ensure each child's safety, health, and development in accordance with each child's needs and abilities. They will utilize best practices to provide appropriate services to children. They will comply with Adelante Mujeres and state Head Start Performance Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Oregon Childcare Division regulations in full day care centers, as well as Hillsboro School District policies and procedures. This is an hourly, full-time (40 hour/week), 10-month position that will work at various school sites in Washington County. This role reports to the ECE Coordinator. The Floater Teacher Assistant is responsible for:
- Providing quality services to children and families by using best practices, following all policies, guidelines, and protocols set forth by Adelante Mujeres, Oregon Childcare Division and school districts.
- Supporting classrooms as a substitute when assigned and may be assigned to multiple classrooms daily.
- Supporting children with special needs and assisting teachers in implementing individualized family support plans.
- Communicating effectively and positively with other teachers, staff, partners, and families to build trust using different communication tools and systems.
- Participating in training and professional development opportunities that deepen understanding of ECE principles.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- A passionate commitment to the goals and mission of Adelante Mujeres and support for immigrant and BIPOC communities
- A minimum of one year experience teaching children ages 0- 5
- High School Diploma or GED, OR diploma de Education Secundaria required
- Bilingual in English/Spanish required written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to implement and enhance curricula
- Committed to education, social justice, women's empowerment and the environment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- COVID-19 vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical accommodation

- Have reliable mode of transportation for daily travel between sites
- Ability to travel between sites in Washington County and out of town occasionally to attend workshops or trainings
- Twist, bend, reach, and think strategically about how to properly move heavy items)
- Walk with teachers and children in classroom and on excursions
- Sit in child size chairs and on floor for half an hour at time, as appropriate for child-centered activities
- Crawl or lie on floor or grass as appropriate for child-centered activities
- Move rapidly from extreme positions, i.e. sudden standing from floor
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Salary range: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience
- Classification: Fulltime, Hourly, In-person. 10-month position (August-June)
