Job Description: As a Middle School English Language Arts Teacher at Adelante, you are essential in fostering our scholars' literacy, critical thinking, and expressive capabilities during their formative middle school years. Your role focuses on deepening students' engagement with literature, writing, and analysis, encouraging them to explore and articulate their thoughts and perspectives with clarity and creativity.

Utilizing Adelante's comprehensive resources, including our digital platforms and interactive classroom tools, you will deliver lessons that not only hone reading and writing skills but also stimulate intellectual curiosity and emotional intelligence.

We provide all the necessary curriculum materials and support, enabling you to concentrate on what you do best: igniting a passion for literature and composition. Your efforts will equip students with the communication and analytical skills vital for success in high school, college, and beyond.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Implement curricula and activities that meet Indiana academic standards.
• Conduct assessments to gauge progress toward academic standards.
• Utilize assessment data to refine the curriculum and inform teaching strategies.
• Apply consistent rewards and/or consequences to ensure scholars adhere to the school's core values, expectations, and conduct code.
• Be accountable for scholars’ mastery of academic standards.
• Contribute to grade-level and school-wide activities.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with scholars, families, and colleagues.
• Engage actively in team meetings, including participating in an annual summer staff orientation and training.
• Supervise scholars during classes, breaks, meals, specials, and transitions to ensure a productive learning environment and their safety.
• Attend and engage in school events outside regular hours (e.g., family nights, scholar performances, field trips, report card nights, and Teacher-Family Conferences).
• Uphold and promote Adelante’s core values and educational philosophy.
• Commit to being present and engaged at the school from 7:10 AM to 4:10 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexible work times available from 2:30-4:10 PM.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.

• Outstanding emotional intelligence, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong technical and organizational skills.
• Eagerness for constant observation and feedback
• Deeply rooted belief that children are capable of reaching the highest bars we set for them
• Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
• Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required. Applicants in Indiana State-approved alternate certification programs must provide proof of enrollment.
